Short answer
Make the business explicit: what it does, who it serves, where it operates, which services or products it offers, how to contact it, and what evidence supports those claims. Put that information in crawlable HTML with sensible headings, internal links, metadata, and appropriate structured data. There is no guaranteed "AI visibility" switch.
Modern search still starts with normal web fundamentals.
Google's current guidance for AI Overviews and AI Mode says the same core SEO practices still apply. Pages need to be crawlable, indexable, useful, well structured, and eligible to appear in normal Search. Google does not require a special AI schema or a separate machine-written version of the page.
That is good news for businesses. The durable work is largely the same work that makes a website clearer for people.
State the basic business facts without making the reader infer them.
A visitor should not have to reverse-engineer the company from a slogan. Important pages should clearly communicate:
- the business or brand name
- the services or products offered
- who those services are for
- locations or service areas when location matters
- pricing logic when it can be stated responsibly
- contact methods and the next step
- proof such as work, reviews, credentials, policies, or relevant experience
These relationships also give search and AI systems clearer context.
Give important subjects enough independent context.
If a company offers several materially different services, squeezing all of them into one vague paragraph makes both human and machine interpretation harder. Important services should have clear labels, supporting detail, and internal links from related pages.
That does not mean creating a new page for every keyword variation. Google explicitly warns against manufacturing many near-duplicate pages for query permutations. Build a page when the subject deserves a page.
Use semantic HTML because structure should mean something.
Headings, paragraphs, lists, navigation, main content, articles, buttons, and links all have roles. Semantic HTML helps browsers, assistive technology, crawlers, and future systems understand those roles more reliably than a pile of visually styled generic containers.
Perfect markup is not a ranking guarantee. Clear structure is simply a more durable foundation.
Structured data should clarify real information, not invent importance.
Schema can explicitly describe things such as an organization, service, article, product, or breadcrumb when the markup matches what the page actually says. It should support the visible content.
Do not create fake locations, fake reviews, fake authors, or irrelevant schema because a generator promised better AI visibility.
llms.txt is not a Google visibility requirement.
Google's July 2026 documentation specifically says Google Search does not use llms.txt. Adding one does not improve or reduce visibility in Google Search. If another system documents a real use for it later, evaluate that system on its own terms.
GEO should not become another excuse for commodity content.
Google's current guidance also warns against generic listicles and mass-produced material that repeats what already exists. A business has a better reason to publish content when it can contribute first-hand decisions, project examples, pricing logic, technical judgment, or specific expertise.
That is the purpose of these Field Notes. The goal is not to publish every possible query. It is to answer the questions STATICMETHOD has a credible reason to answer.
AI visibility can now be measured more directly.
Google has rolled out Generative AI performance reporting in Search Console, and Bing Webmaster Tools has introduced AI Performance reporting for citations in Bing's AI-generated experiences and Microsoft Copilot. Those reports do not guarantee that a page will be cited, but they make the channel less abstract.
That means a useful content program can be evaluated over time rather than sold with vague promises.
